Spending time with the Don family isn't mandatory. We look for reasons to get together! This summer we had the privilege to have all our schedules align for a big Florida trip to see Papa Don's side of the family in Daytona Beach. We hit up a lot of the traditional spots, one of them being here : Boondock's Restaurant. I've taken this shot so many times over the years as a middle schooler and high schooler. So it was fun to go back with all my equipment and give it the long exposure treatment!
Not sure if I can call this "travel" as it's my hometown! I think the only reason it qualifies is the 4 hour drive, with at least 1 hour of LA traffic (the LA traffic struggle is SO real).
Well, besides the point! I headed down to my old stomping grounds to hang with the Don family and Papa Don for Father's Day. Invariably, I busted out the camera and took a few pictures of the oh-so-iconic Manhattan Beach pier. A popular tourist sighting, the site of the pier is one of nostalgia for me.
If you ever thought to yourself, "Hmm, I'm wondering if St. Patrick's Day in Boston would be a good idea?" Get up. Buy yourself a ticket and do it. If it wasn't so cold there 75% of the year, I'd be a permanent resident.
Visiting Rome made me realize how much I love pizza. I'm not kidding, it was life changing. They put egg on their pizza, and although I was initially coerced into the idea, I left a changed woman.
All jokes aside, being in Rome and going to the Vatican was really where I found honest reflection. The duality of historical and spiritual presence was incredibly impactful and something I'll always look back on fondly.
I can't even truly articulate how wonderful my time in Ireland & Scotland was. A culture that appreciates beer, whiskey & live music are my kind of people.
